Blog No. 1 - My visit to Ian Lloyd

28 January 2017

So 2017 is going to the year for blogging!! I read blogs all the time and find them motivational, inspirational and sometimes just funny and entertaining, well I doubt you will be laughing often reading my blogs but I do hope my floristry related rambling can help you in some way.

Firstly, I would like to thank Country baskets for running their window competition and giving me the chance to learn and develop my skills. It’s not every day you get the opportunity to have a one to one masterclass so when I was informed of my winning and asked to think of the topics I would like covered my mind went into overdrive!! I finally decided that learning how to construct floral archways from the insanely talented Ian Lloyd had to be the best option. I mean who wouldn’t want to know how he constructs those stunning floral arches? It’s not that I have never done a floral archway or that I was completely clueless but having advice and tips from someone so experienced in them was a great opportunity I couldn’t miss. I have over 15 years’ experience in the floristry industry but my shop Anne Whsyall florists is just over 14 months old so my plan was to try and gain as much practical business advice from Ian too.

Ian was all organised on my arrival at his shop in Wilmslow with the construction materials ready for us to make a sample archway and he explained the whole process in detail. I can honestly say I learnt so much and had a wonderful time. I continually fired questions at Ian and he never flinched just answered and helped as much as he could.

Thank you again to Country Baskets and a massive thank you to Ian Lloyd
